The ideal times for Mardi Himal Trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these months, the weather is generally clear, dry, and stable, offering the best views of the Himalayas. Spring adds the bonus of blooming rhododendrons, making the forest trails vibrant and colorful. Autumn, on the other hand, brings crystal-clear skies and cool, refreshing mountain air.
Winter trekking (December to February) is possible and less crowded but comes with cold temperatures and potential snow at higher altitudes, especially near High Camp and View Point. Monsoon season (June to August) is not recommended due to slippery trails, heavy rain, and leeches in the forested areas. Alture Treks closely monitors weather patterns and always prioritizes your safety, making necessary adjustments if conditions change.

Organized by Alture Treks, this trek takes you off the beaten path through peaceful forests, alpine meadows, and high ridges, far from the busier Annapurna Base Camp route. The highlight is reaching Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500m), a vantage point offering breathtaking, close-up views of towering Himalayan peaks. It’s perfect for those looking for a short, immersive Himalayan experience with fewer crowds.
The Mardi Himal Trek is considered moderate and is suitable for both first-time trekkers and those with some prior hiking experience. The trail involves daily walking of about 5–7 hours, with gradual altitude gain and well-maintained paths. While you don’t need technical skills, a reasonable level of fitness is important. Alture Treks designs the itinerary with a gradual ascent and adequate time for rest and acclimatization to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
The best seasons for this trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These months offer clear skies, mild temperatures, and stunning views. Spring also brings blooming rhododendron forests, while autumn offers crisp mountain air and great visibility. Winter treks are possible too, with snow adding a magical touch, but colder temperatures require proper gear. Monsoon season (June to August) is less recommended due to slippery trails and limited views.
During the Mardi Himal Trek, Alture Treks arranges stays in basic teahouses and lodges operated by local families. These teahouses provide clean rooms, simple meals, and a warm atmosphere. Yes, for the Mardi Himal Trek, you need the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) card. Alture Treks will take care of these permits on your behalf as part of the package, so there’s no need to handle any of the paperwork yourself.
Although Mardi Himal Base Camp is at 4,500 meters, the risk of altitude sickness is relatively low due to the gradual ascent and shorter duration at high altitude. Nonetheless, Alture Treks builds in acclimatization time and our guides are trained to monitor your health. If symptoms do occur, they will be addressed immediately, and our team is fully equipped to manage emergencies if needed.
You’ll need layered clothing, as temperatures vary greatly from lower villages to higher camps. Essentials include a down jacket, thermal base layers, waterproof jacket and pants, hiking boots, gloves, hat, sunglasses, headlamp, personal toiletries, a reusable water bottle, and medications. A detailed packing list will be provided upon booking. If you need to rent gear in Kathmandu or Pokhara, Alture Treks can assist with that too.
You don’t need to be an athlete, but you should be able to walk 5–7 hours a day on uphill and downhill terrain. Cardiovascular fitness and leg strength are helpful. We recommend preparing by walking, hiking, or doing aerobic exercise a few weeks before your trek. Our guide will adjust the pace based on your comfort level.
