In the evening, a short trek briefing session will be held to discuss the journey ahead and answer any questions you may have.
Today is dedicated to exploring Kathmandu’s rich historical and cultural heritage. After breakfast, you will be guided through UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. These sites reflect Nepal’s deep-rooted religious and architectural traditions. In the evening, final preparations and gear checks for the trek will be completed with the help of the Alture Treks team.
An early morning departure from Kathmandu takes you on a scenic 6–7 hour drive to Pokhara, Nepal's lake city. The journey offers views of rural villages, terraced fields, and rivers. After arriving, check in to your hotel near Phewa Lake, where you can enjoy boating or a relaxing lakeside evening.
After breakfast, drive for about 1.5 hours to Nayapul, the starting point of the trek. From here, begin the trek following a trail that ascends through beautiful forests and traditional villages. The hike to Ghandruk, a charming Gurung village, takes about 4–5 hours. You'll enjoy incredible views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and Annapurna South.
Today's trek descends to the Kimrong Khola before climbing through rhododendron forests and terraced fields to reach Chomrong, another large Gurung settlement. The views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli from Chomrong are breathtaking. This village is also the last permanent settlement en route to ABC.
Start by descending stone steps to Chomrong Khola, then ascend to Sinuwa and gradually walk through thick forests. Continue past Bamboo to reach Dovan after 6–7 hours of trekking. The air becomes cooler and the environment quieter as you get closer to the alpine zone.
The trail today passes through lush forests and waterfalls. As you ascend, vegetation starts thinning and the landscape begins to open up. Reach Deurali after a 4–5 hour hike. It’s important to walk slowly and stay hydrated to help with acclimatization.
One of the most rewarding days of the trek! The trail climbs past Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC) at 3,700m before continuing to Annapurna Base Camp. Surrounded by a panoramic amphitheater of peaks including Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and Machhapuchhre, this location offers awe-inspiring beauty. Overnight at ABC, with a chance to witness a spectacular sunset.
Wake up early for a magical sunrise over the Himalayas. After breakfast, retrace your steps down the same trail, descending gradually to Bamboo. It’s a long but easier day, and you’ll begin to feel the increase in oxygen levels as you drop in altitude.
Descend further to Chomrong, then continue downhill to Jhinu Danda. This village is famous for its natural hot springs. After checking in to a teahouse, take a short walk to the riverside hot springs to soak your tired muscles—a well-deserved treat after days of trekking.
The final trekking day begins with a pleasant walk along the Modi Khola River, passing small settlements and terraced farms. Arrive at Nayapul, where a vehicle will be waiting for the drive back to Pokhara. Check in to your hotel and spend the evening celebrating your successful trek.
Depart Pokhara early in the morning via tourist bus. Enjoy the scenic drive back to Kathmandu, where you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Spend your final evening shopping for souvenirs or relaxing at one of the city's rooftop restaurants.
A representative from Alture Treks will escort you to the airport for your international flight. You’ll leave with unforgettable memories of the Annapurna region, its people, and the majestic Himalayas.

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek, also known as the ABC Trek, is one of Nepal’s most popular and rewarding trekking experiences, offered by Alture Treks. This moderate trek takes you deep into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary—a natural amphitheater surrounded by some of the world’s highest peaks, including Annapurna I (8,091 meters), Machapuchare (Fishtail), and Hiunchuli. Combining diverse landscapes, charming Gurung and Magar villages, terraced fields, and dense rhododendron forests, the trek culminates at Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 meters), offering awe-inspiring panoramic mountain views.
This trek is considered moderate and is suitable for both beginners with reasonable fitness and seasoned trekkers. The trail involves daily walks of 5–7 hours, with gradual ascents and descents through varied terrain. While the altitude is not extreme compared to other high-altitude treks, the journey still demands a good level of stamina and physical preparation. No prior trekking experience is required, and Alture Treks’ experienced guides ensure a safe, well-paced adventure.
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek usually takes 7 to 12 days, depending on the starting point and chosen route. A standard itinerary often begins with a drive from Pokhara to Nayapul or Jhinu Danda, and continues through villages like Ghandruk, Chhomrong, Bamboo, and Deurali, before reaching the base camp. Some trekkers combine this route with Poon Hill for an extended journey. Alture Treks offers flexible itineraries that can be customized based on your fitness level, travel schedule, and interests.
The best seasons for the ABC trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These periods offer the clearest skies, stable weather, and excellent visibility of the mountains. In spring, the rhododendron forests are in full bloom, creating a colorful and scenic backdrop. Winter (December to February) is possible with proper gear, but some trails may be affected by snow. The monsoon season (June to August) is less ideal due to heavy rain and leeches, though the trek is still possible with caution.
Yes, Alture Treks takes care of all required permits for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. You’ll need the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the TIMS Card (Trekkers' Information Management System). These permits are essential for entry into the Annapurna region and for ensuring trekker safety. All permit fees are included in your trek package.
You will stay in local teahouses or guesthouses throughout the trek. Rooms are typically basic with twin-sharing beds, blankets, and shared bathrooms, although more comfortable lodges are available in larger villages. Meals are freshly prepared and include a mix of traditional Nepali dishes (like dal bhat), pasta, rice, soups, and seasonal vegetables. Vegetarian and vegan options are widely available, and Alture Treks ensures hygienic food and safe drinking options.
Although Annapurna Base Camp is below 4,200 meters, some trekkers may still feel the effects of mild altitude sickness. However, the gradual ascent and proper pacing built into Alture Treks’ itineraries allow most people to acclimatize naturally. Our guides are trained to monitor symptoms and respond quickly if needed. Staying hydrated, walking slowly, and getting proper rest all contribute to a safe experience at higher elevations.
Preparation should include cardiovascular training and light strength exercises, starting at least 4–6 weeks before your departure. Hiking on trails with elevation gain and walking with a loaded daypack can help simulate trekking conditions. While the ABC trek is accessible to beginners, being in good shape greatly enhances your experience. Alture Treks offers pre-departure support, including packing lists and fitness advice.
A comprehensive packing list is provided upon booking, but essentials include: a warm down jacket, layered clothing, a rain jacket, hiking boots, trekking poles, gloves, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a good-quality sleeping bag (can be rented). You’ll carry a small daypack, while porters handle your main duffel bag (up to 10–12 kg). Alture Treks also assists with gear rental and packing guidance.
Alture Treks combines deep local expertise with personalized service, offering small group or private departures for a more meaningful trekking experience. Our professional guides, reliable logistics, and emphasis on safety and sustainability make us a trusted partner in the Himalayas.
