After an early breakfast, you will board a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,860m), known for its thrilling runway perched on a cliff. Upon arrival, you will meet your trekking guide and porters, begin your trek descending gently through Sherpa villages, lush forests, and alongside the Dudh Koshi River. The day’s walk leads you to Phakding (2,610m), a peaceful village where you will spend the night in a comfortable teahouse.
Today’s trek is more challenging as you steadily ascend through rhododendron forests, cross suspension bridges, and pass traditional Sherpa villages. After approximately 6 hours of trekking, you will arrive at Namche Bazaar (3,440m), the bustling Sherpa capital and the gateway to the Everest region. Here, you can explore the local market, visit cafes, and admire the stunning mountain views. This vibrant town offers a perfect spot to acclimatize.
This day is dedicated to acclimatization and exploration. After breakfast, you will embark on a rewarding day hike to the nearby Sherpa villages of Khumjung and Khunde. You can visit a famous monastery, the Hillary School, and meet local villagers. Later, you will trek up to the Everest View Hotel (3,880m), where spectacular panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam await you. Return to Namche Bazaar for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will begin the descent, retracing your steps back down the trail. An Alture Treks representative will escort you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight. We wish you a safe journey home and hope you carry wonderful memories of your Everest Panorama Trek experience.
The weather on the Everest Panorama Trek varies significantly depending on the season and altitude. The best trekking seasons are spring (March to May) and autumn (late September to November) when the skies are clear, temperatures are moderate, and rainfall is minimal. During these periods, daytime temperatures at lower elevations can be warm, while mornings and nights are cooler. At higher altitudes, such as Namche Bazaar and above, temperatures drop significantly after sunset, sometimes below freezing, especially in early spring and late autumn.
The monsoon season (June to early September) brings heavy rainfall and slippery trails, making trekking more difficult and less enjoyable. Winter (December to February) can be extremely cold, with snow and icy conditions at higher elevations, though the lower trail sections remain accessible. Alture Treks advises travelers to pack layered clothing to adapt to the changing weather and to bring proper gear such as down jackets, gloves, and hats to stay warm during chilly nights and mornings.
The Everest Panorama Trek is a spectacular journey through the foothills of the world’s highest mountain, offering breathtaking views of Mount Everest along with other towering peaks like Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Cho Oyu. Unlike the demanding Everest Base Camp trek, the Panorama route is more accessible to trekkers with moderate fitness levels and less time. It includes scenic villages like Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, and Khumjung, which provide rich Sherpa cultural experiences. Alture Treks ensures your trek blends adventure with comfort, guiding you through the best viewpoints and cultural sites without the intensity of high-altitude trekking.
The Everest Panorama Trek is classified as moderate in difficulty. Trekkers will experience altitudes up to approximately 3,860 meters (Tengboche), which is manageable for most people with basic fitness and proper acclimatization. The trail features some steep sections, but overall it is less strenuous than the full Everest Base Camp trek. Alture Treks carefully plans your itinerary to allow ample rest and acclimatization days, so even first-time trekkers can enjoy the journey safely.
The best seasons to undertake the Everest Panorama Trek are during the spring (March to May) and autumn (late September to November) months. These periods offer stable weather, clear skies, and stunning mountain views. Alture Treks can also organize treks in the off-season, but note that winter months are cold and may bring snowfall, while the monsoon season can make trails slippery and visibility poor.
Yes, trekking in the Everest region requires two primary permits: the Sagarmatha National Park Permit and the TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card. These permits help manage and protect the natural environment and cultural heritage of the region. Alture Treks arranges all necessary permits for you, making the process seamless and hassle-free.
Accommodation on the Everest Panorama Trek consists mainly of comfortable teahouses and lodges along the route. These provide basic but clean facilities with twin-sharing rooms and hot showers available in many places. Meals typically include local Nepalese dishes like dal bhat (rice and lentils), momos (dumplings), soups, and fresh vegetables. Alture Treks works with trusted local lodges that maintain good hygiene standards and offer nutritious food options suitable for trekkers.
Since the trek reaches elevations close to 3,860 meters, altitude sickness can be a concern for some trekkers, especially those not accustomed to higher altitudes. Alture Treks emphasizes a gradual ascent and includes acclimatization days in the itinerary to minimize the risk. Our guides are trained to recognize symptoms of altitude sickness and are equipped to provide support or recommend descending if necessary.
The trek begins in Lukla, which is accessible by a short domestic flight from Kathmandu. The flight is about 30 minutes and offers stunning aerial views of the Himalayas. Alture Treks handles your domestic flight bookings and airport transfers in Kathmandu to ensure a smooth start to your adventure.
Packing for the Everest Panorama Trek requires preparation for variable weather conditions. Essential items include layered clothing (thermal base layers, fleece jackets, down jackets), sturdy trekking boots, a warm hat and gloves, sunglasses, sunblock, a good sleeping bag, and trekking poles if desired. Alture Treks provides a detailed packing list tailored to the trek and can assist with gear rental or purchases in Kathmandu.
While solo trekking is possible, it is highly recommended to trek with a guide or in a small group for safety reasons, especially due to altitude considerations and navigation. Alture Treks offers experienced local guides who ensure your safety, provide insights into the local culture, and enhance your overall trekking experience. For solo travelers, we can also help organize group departures or private guided treks.
Choosing Alture Treks guarantees a professional and authentic trekking experience.
