Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a representative from Alture Treks will be waiting to greet you and transfer you to your hotel. In the evening, you will meet your trek guide for a briefing about the upcoming adventure and enjoy a welcome dinner. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
The day starts early with a short scenic flight to Pokhara, offering views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. From Pokhara, a private jeep will take you to Matkyu, the starting point of the trek. The trail begins with a walk through lush forests and charming Gurung villages. After crossing the suspension bridge at Chhomrong, a steady uphill trek leads to Sinuwa, where you'll rest for the night. Overnight at a teahouse in Sinuwa.
This is the most exciting and rewarding day of the trek. The trail continues past Deurali and climbs steadily into the alpine landscape. As you approach Machapuchare Base Camp (MBC), the views of the surrounding peaks—Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, and the iconic Machapuchare—become increasingly dramatic. From MBC, it's a final push to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), where a 360-degree panorama of snow-capped giants surrounds you. Spend the night at ABC and witness a stunning sunset over the Annapurna Massif. Overnight at a teahouse at base camp.
Wake up early to witness the golden sunrise over Annapurna I, then begin your descent. Retracing your steps through MBC and Deurali, the trail descends steadily back through the forested valleys. You’ll pass familiar villages and scenic stops before reaching Sinuwa by late afternoon. This long day of trekking is both rewarding and reflective, as you descend from the high Himalayas. Overnight at a teahouse in Sinuwa.
On your final day of trekking, continue downhill through Chhomrong and the terraced farmlands of the Modi Khola valley. The trail eventually leads to Kyumi, where your private jeep will be waiting. A scenic drive brings you back to Pokhara by evening. You can spend the rest of the day relaxing by the lakeside or enjoying a celebratory meal. Overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.
After breakfast, board a comfortable tourist bus for a scenic drive back to Kathmandu. The journey takes approximately 6–7 hours, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy views of Nepal’s countryside and rivers. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for a well-deserved rest. In the evening, Alture Treks may host a farewell dinner to celebrate your successful trek. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
Depending on your flight time, a representative from Alture Treks will escort you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure. You leave Nepal with unforgettable memories of the majestic Himalayas and the warmth of its people. We hope to welcome you again for another Himalayan adventure. Thank you for trekking with Alture Treks!
Weather in the Annapurna region can vary greatly depending on the season. Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) are considered the best times to trek. These seasons offer clear skies, pleasant daytime temperatures, and vibrant natural beauty—especially rhododendron blooms in spring and crisp mountain views in autumn.
During winter (December to February), temperatures drop significantly, especially at Base Camp, and snow may cover parts of the trail. While winter treks are possible, they require warmer gear and more preparation. The monsoon season (June to August) brings heavy rainfall and leeches on lower trails, making it less ideal. However, Alture Treks monitors weather conditions closely and prepares accordingly to ensure your safety and comfort year-round.
The Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek is a compact yet immersive 8-day adventure crafted by Alture Treks for travelers who want to experience the majestic Annapurna region within a limited timeframe. This trek is ideal for moderately fit individuals, including both novice trekkers and experienced hikers looking to see the beauty of the Himalayas without a lengthy commitment. With daily hikes ranging from 4 to 7 hours, it strikes a perfect balance between challenge and accessibility.
The trek begins with your arrival in Kathmandu on Day 1, where our team welcomes you and gives a detailed briefing. On Day 2, you take a scenic flight to Pokhara followed by a drive to Matkyu, the starting point of the trek. From there, you hike to Sinuwa (2360m). Day 3 leads you to Himalaya (2920m), setting the stage for the climb to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) on Day 4, the highest point of the trek. Day 5 marks the descent back to Sinuwa, and on Day 6, you trek down to Kyumi and drive back to Pokhara. On Day 7, a tourist bus takes you back to Kathmandu, and Day 8 concludes with your final departure. Each day includes meals, guide support, and time for rest and exploration.
Alture Treks arranges comfortable teahouse lodges along the trail that offer basic yet cozy rooms, usually on a twin-sharing basis. In Kathmandu and Pokhara, you’ll stay in standard 2- or 3-star hotels with amenities like hot showers and Wi-Fi. While the mountain lodges are more rustic, they provide hearty meals, warm bedding, and a communal atmosphere perfect for unwinding after a day’s trek.
This trek is considered moderate in difficulty. Although no prior high-altitude trekking experience is required, participants should be in good health and able to walk for several hours at a time. The highest elevation is 4130 meters at Annapurna Base Camp, and while the ascent is gradual, altitude awareness is important. Alture Treks schedules acclimatization and gradual elevation gain to reduce risks, and your guide is trained to monitor for any symptoms of altitude sickness.
